ABOUT US
M&J’s Produce was founded, in an expression of love, by Matthew & Joan.
We are a new “later in life” relationship & we’ve loved cooking for each other & looking after the needs of each other. And it is from exactly this dynamic that M&J’s Produce was born. To have started this creation together and to have developed products so quickly from only fresh produce is rewarding both emotionally and to enjoy seeing our gardens go from farm to plate is so special. Come along and enjoy our tasty journey.
These are some of the same products we’ve been making in our kitchen and the initial focus was always nourishing the body and the soul.. That focus has not changed – just widened a little. Our goal now “to make the best food ever”.
Matthew Johnston
Matthew began turning an ex dairy farm into a sub tropical fruit oasis in 2010. This farm now has over 100 varieties of trees and many of these are now at the point where they’re starting to produce serious surplus.
Matthew can also be found doing business consulting when not creating new chutney recipes
Joan Loewensohn
Joan has held high profile positions in the hospitality industry world for a lifetime, and her interest in M&J’s Produce reflects not just a “foodies passion” but also a desire to create the food panacea she always envisioned.
You can also find Joan managing Conferencing & Events at Byron’s only 5 star resort
THE COMPANY
To make high quality food we want to eat ourselves, and that to eat over a life span will assist in keeping us healthy
INGREDIENTS PHILOSOPHY
MJ’s Produce comes from a philosophy of abundance, and utilising that abundance. We are not overly dogmatic in any dietary area (ie we’re not vegan, not vegetarian, not strictly no sugar) but we certainly follow the philosophy of whole foods & real foods & locally sourced foods.
Our philosophies are if we don’t want to add it into our personal diet we don’t make it. Whilst we do use sugar in some items (it’s hard to make marmalade without it), our aim is to minimise this as much as possible. We never use artificial flavours, colours or preservatives.
